Stephen A. Burt is President of Healthcare Compliance Resources (HCR), an affiliate of
Woods Rogers Consulting . Steve has surveyed healthcare facilities for more than 30 years to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Health and Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) regulations.
HCR’s representative work for the healthcare sector includes providing OSHA and HIPAA compliance services for more than 50 hospitals, 25 long-term care facilities, 1,000 physician offices, and 100 dental offices in the Southeast. Steve speaks regularly throughout the Southeast and beyond on OSHA, EPA, HIPAA, and management topics for healthcare providers. He has conducted many full-day seminars for the University of North Carolina, Duke University’s Area Health Education Centers, East Carolina University, the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association, and the American Hospital Association among others.
HCR has expanded its consulting arena to include both industrial and manufacturing companies. Specializing in OSHA compliance and accident investigation for these sectors, HCR offers a third-party, unbiased approach to most workplace situations that require detailed analysis and sound, solid strategic solutions.
Prior to founding HCR, Steve was the Corporate Environmental Manager for Carilion Healthcare System in Roanoke, Va., from 1981 to 1994. He was awarded the prestigious American Hospital Association’s Phoenix Award by the American Society for Healthcare Environmental Services (ASHES) in 1989. He was a founding member and charter board member of ASHES and has served on environmental committees for the American Hospital Association and the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association. Steve was also the Corporate Administrator of Employee Safety Programs for Inova Health System in Falls Church, Va. from 2006 to 2008.
